Evaluation of Barrier Walls for Mitigation of Unintended Releases of Hydrogen
William Houf, Sandia National Laboritories
The development and commercial use of hydrogen will require safety guidelines for building vehicle fueling stations, storage facilities, and other infrastructure components. If the development of these safety guidelines is to be made on a scientific basis, then validated engineering models of unintended hydrogen releases are needed for scenario and risk analysis.
William Houf made a presentation at on this topic at the NHA Hydrogen Conference and Expo 2009, in Columbia, SC, and has kindly given permission for the NHA to reprint it here:
Safety, Codes & Standards Workshop Draws over 100 - Workshop Proceedings
Karen Hall, National Hydrogen Association
On Monday, March 30, over 100 people turned up in Columbia, SC to attend the NHA Safety, Codes and Standards Workshop: Tackling Challenges to Implementation of Hydrogen Energy Systems. Participants had a chance to hear about the latest thinking and advances on three key topic areas:
- Leak Detection - Odorization and Sensors
- Separation Distances - gaseous and liquid hydrogen
- Indoor Operations and Fueling
The NHA wishes to thank all those who participated, and the U.S. Department of Energy for their generous sponsorship of the workshop.
